"DOUBLE PORTION" | ISAIAH 61

I was recently going through the book of Isaiah and was reading through chapter 61 when this verse in particular spoke to me:

"Instead of your [former] shame you will have a [d]double portion;
And instead of humiliation your people will shout for joy over their portion.
Therefore in their land they will possess double [what they had forfeited];
Everlasting joy will be theirs."

~ Isaiah 61:7 AMP

This verse caused me to reflect on How God not only sees us, but what He desires for us. He doesn't see us how we see ourselves.

We have all made mistakes.

There may be things in our past/actions we took that we are not proud of, or wish we could erase.

However, here is the remarkable, extraordinary, supernatural thing about God:

He still sees us with love.

He sees us where we are ~ in the midst of our brokenness, in the midst of our shame, fear and failures.

And He meets us there.
He is more than able and capable to take our broken pieces, our history, our story and make it into something beautiful.

And He is not only able, He WANTS to.

With His grace and heart for us to heal and grow, we will have a testimony so profound;  the world will question how we made it.

In verse 7 of Isaiah 61, the term double portion also stands for abundant reward. Wow. This is how He sees us, His children, worthy of reward. This is what is in replacement of our shame, past and old ways.

The very things that were supposed to take us down have elevated us to another level.

God can make beauty rise from ashes. He can breathe life into what has perished.

This is truth found in His word, and this truth is for all of us. How awesome is God that He does not leave us how He has found us.

When we accepted Jesus we accepted with Him a new identity, whatever kept us in the ashes is now put on the cross. And in replacement of the ashes, God giving us a reward and everlasting joy.

Let that be your encouragement for the day.

Have a great week!

Until the next post,
