THE BEST FOUNDATION | MATTHEW 7:24-27

Happy Friday sisters! Who else is looking forward to the weekend?!

*Disclaimer: makeup is not the subject of this post; as much as I love it it’s not my forte! But hey I thought it would be a rather catchy title, it’ll also make sense as we go into this post and how it relates to this specific scripture we’re about to dive in to!*

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” - Matthew 7:24-27

Let’s do a bit of reflecting and ask ourselves this: When the going gets tough, how’s our foundation looking? What is our foundation: the things of this word or the promises and strength found in His word? What ground are we standing on?

Having our feet on solid ground is crucial in order to get through those shaky seasons, which is why the word iterates the importance of us being grounded in God and His word. I don’t know about you, but I would much prefer standing on a ground that does not tremble under pressure, one that will not fall or break under me when I’m “going through it”. How amazing is G and His promises?! Not only does it say that we can lay foundation on Him and His word – but it also says that it’s strong and will not falter! In other words with Him we are safe and secure as we could ever be. Phew, there is none like our God! 

This world is temporary, and so are the things in it ~ this is why so often when we do try to seek refuge in it, attempting to make it a foundation it usually doesn’t go well or last. On a spiritual perspective, God wants us to build our house on the highest strongest rocks that will hold us and protect us from storms and waves. Matthew 7 tells us that we are not only to hear the word but apply it in our lives.

Today let’s make a choice to stand on His word and His truth. There is no greater foundation than standing on God’s truth and promises.

“There is none holy like the Lord; there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.” - 1 Samuel 2:2

LEARNING FROM SEASONS: MALACHI 3:6

Hey sisters, Hope you're all enjoying the festivities that come with this time of year! Ok ok I have to admit, I'm such a winter baby. I'm all about the cooler weather, winter fashion, the aesthetic and of course CHRISTMAS. One thing I also love about this time of the year is the transition of season from winter to spring; flowers blossoming and the change in weather. KNOWING HIM: DELIVERER

I just love reading about the different people in the bible that God delivered from all sorts of complex, difficult situations. For example, there was Paul and Silas who God delivered from prison (see Acts 16:23-26). There was also Daniel in the lion's den, whom God delivered from certain death by keeping the mouths of the lions shut! God also delivered David from afflictions; to be precise the mouth of the lion and the paw of a bear! (see 1 Samuel 17:37). These are just some of many stories that you can read about where God came through and brought them out the other side.  God is indeed a deliverer. Just like so many people in the bible, we will all face affliction at some point or another. Where we are hit with a brick wall and we think "now what?".
