The Confident Mom by Joyce Meyer #SheReformedReads

Image
In THE CONFIDENT MOM, Joyce Meyer helps rescue moms from insecurity by teaching them how to trust in the Father who is bigger than the problems they're facing. She digs down to the real foundation of a mother's confidence, the assurance that she is truly loved by God, and provides busy moms with daily, practical ways to receive His love. Well I have just so happened to come across a golden nugget of a book from Joyce! And it has been such a joy to read as I have embarked on this new journey into motherhood. These pages are entwined with scripture and stories to encourage us mums who face all sorts of challenges and obstacles in our every day lives. As always I love Joyce's straightforward no nonsense approach to getting a message or point from scripture across.  There is something in this book for anyone even if you have kids who are grown and living outside of homes of if your bubba is a few days old! What I personally got from this book: That as a mum I don't have to ...

THIS IS THE SIGN YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR

Image
Hey sis, My name is Drea, a girl born and raised in Houston Texas, a lover of Jesus and girl and I am super excited to write here on She Reformed for y'all. I have had this message stirring in my heart for a while and with everything that is going on in the world at the moment I thought there would be no better time to share it:   What has been stirring in your heart? What has been tugging on your spirit to do but fear or anxiety got you held you back? So many of us are waiting for that "sign" in order to make a move. Well here you go! Don't wait any longer. Don't let your thoughts and "what ifs" hold you back from you giving your all! God can do amazing, phenomenal things through us but the question is are we going to let Him? He is waiting for our yes today. Remove the distractions, overlook the obstacles and make that step of faith. So go on and start up that blog. Research what you gotta do to start that e-book. ...

LEARNING FROM SEASONS: MALACHI 3:6

Image
Hey sisters, Hope you're all enjoying the festivities that come with this time of year! Ok ok I have to admit, I'm such a winter baby. I'm all about the cooler weather, winter fashion, the aesthetic and of course CHRISTMAS. One thing I also love about this time of the year is the transition of season from winter to spring; flowers blossoming and the change in weather. It has always been a reminder to me of seasons of life. Life consists of so many seasons, some good and some more difficult. One thing we can be certain of however: Seasons change, the world is changing everyday but God NEVER changes. He is true to His word and His promises. He is the One that remains above all. “I, the Lord, do not change” (Malachi 3:6) He was mighty yesterday, is today and will be tomorrow. I wrote a post earlier in the year titled the best foundation - and it links with what was on my heart to write today. When we stand on the word and promises of God it becomes our ...

HOW GIVING HAS BLESSED MY LIFE

As we are on the subject of gifts and giving, we are approaching that time of the year where people scurry about the shops thinking of Christmas presents. However, my inspiration for this post is from what I experienced on route to work one morning. It was a Friday morning I was in the queue at Starbucks and in the process of ordering my chai latte when the barista informed me that my drink was already paid for by the person in front of me. She also said that I had change left over from that person for a sweet treat! I was pretty shocked and remember saying “really? You sure?” I had a look around but by the time I figured out who it was that provided the treat they were already leaving the shop with their order. I thought of that random act of kindness for the rest of the day; maybe because it caught me off guard? Maybe because I thought “why me”? Or maybe I was taken aback by the fact that for a moment, that person thought of some stranger and considered what a surprise it wou...

WORSHIP IN CHURCH: WHY I STRUGGLED

Struggle is the word that first comes to mind when I look back on how I worshipped during church services when I first started going to church. Just to give a quick backstory: I got saved short of my 18 th birthday and was still getting familiar with what “singing your worship and praise” was all about. I’ll admit, for a good while I would just read the lyrics in my head, listening to everyone else sing but wouldn’t participate. The reason why singing my worship was a struggle? I can’t pinpoint it to an exact reason other than fear. I was scared of how I would sound – as this was all so new to me. I was worried I wouldn’t sing good enough, that I would be noticed and looked at. Writing this out, and writing it where I am now in my life (where I worship throughout the day!) it’s weird looking back and seeing how fear had such a grip on my life in this area. The enemy would love to take our worship and praise. He would love us to not give God the glory, song and admira...

THE BEST FOUNDATION | MATTHEW 7:24-27

Happy Friday sisters! Who else is looking forward to the weekend?! *Disclaimer: makeup is not the subject of this post; as much as I love it it’s not my forte! But hey I thought it would be a rather catchy title, it’ll also make sense as we go into this post and how it relates to this specific scripture we’re about to dive in to!* “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” - Matthew 7:24-27 Let’s do a bit of reflecting and ask ourselves this: When the going gets tough, how’s our foundation looking? What is ou...

SHE REFORMED MEETS SHIRINA CARSTENS

Image
Shirina Carstens is a well recognized speaker and humanitarian based in London, UK who has travelled around the world giving talks, coaching and inspiring others with her testimony and life experiences. To kick start our "She Reformed meets" series for this blog, Chloe had the opportunity to talk to Shirina regarding her work and to find out a little bit more about her! Hey Shirina, thanks so much for taking the time out your schedule to talk to us! First things first: How did you get your idea or concept for your movement? So initially my movement came about from a previous business I ran (Beauty from within) which was a theatre company that focus on doing dramas based on the taboo subjects that we as humans hide from such as suicide, self worth etc. During this time I would host the event, from here when we ended people would ask me to speak at their events sharing my story as I did at my own event. From here I kind of fell into speaking literally before I knew...

WHAT IS THE S.O.A.P BIBLE STUDY METHOD?

Image
I found out about this study technique from Instagram about two summers ago (oh the joys of what you can learn from IG!). Since then, I have used this method as a basis for most of my independent scripture study. I found this method at a time where I was reading the word, but wasn’t at times good at learning how to really observe what was being said and how I could apply it to my life. If that sounds like you right about now then keep reading as this technique could help! Lets have a look at what S.O.A.P stands for and take it from there!     Scripture –Take whatever scripture it is you are reading from. This can be a couple of verses or a chapter. Observation – There are a lot of questions you could ask for this part of the method, here are ones I like to ask: What is going on in the verses? Who wrote it? What is the scripture about? What is the backstory? What is being said? What is the purpose? (As you can see ther...

BEING A BEARER OF LIGHT | MATTHEW 5:14-16

If you are familiar with the word, you have probably come across these verses at some point: “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message) As Christians we are called to be the light of the world, but what does that ultimately mean for us? To not keep God a secret, to be His ambassador in this world, sharing the good news and love of Jesus whenever possible. I love how the message version describes being a light as bringing out the God colours into the world...
