THIS IS THE SIGN YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR

Image
Hey sis, My name is Drea, a girl born and raised in Houston Texas, a lover of Jesus and girl and I am super excited to write here on She Reformed for y'all. I have had this message stirring in my heart for a while and with everything that is going on in the world at the moment I thought there would be no better time to share it:   What has been stirring in your heart? What has been tugging on your spirit to do but fear or anxiety got you held you back? So many of us are waiting for that "sign" in order to make a move. Well here you go! Don't wait any longer. Don't let your thoughts and "what ifs" hold you back from you giving your all! God can do amazing, phenomenal things through us but the question is are we going to let Him? He is waiting for our yes today. Remove the distractions, overlook the obstacles and make that step of faith. So go on and start up that blog. Research what you gotta do to start that e-book. ...

THE PROBLEM IS NOT TIME

Image
Something I am currently learning in this season of crisis and uncertainty: in every tough circumstance, there is the option to see more than the bad. And for me that is the options of what I can spend my time on (besides from working my 9 - 5).   For so long I had the habit of saying the following to myself:   "If only I had more time, I would write and blog more" "If only I had more time, I would read God's word and pray" "If only I had more time, I could actually relax and have a spa night" "If only I had more time, I could work on that project that has been on the back of my mind for months"   Anyone else relate??   Now with the extra time I have found myself having this week - I found out something.     my problem wasn't the lack of time,   the real problem was my priorities.     I have found even with the extra time - some stuff wasn't getting done. If I can be re...

International Womens Day 2020

Image
Hey ladies, I just wanted to write a bit for International Women’s Day 2020. March 8 th is a day where we remember the struggles that women around the world have undergone to gain equality and rights that we can enjoy today. It is also a day where we acknowledge the challenges and obstacles that millions of girls and women are facing today. What can we do on this day? Watch some documentaries. Girl Rising is a fantastic documentary that came out a few years ago that tells the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face heartbreaking injustices such as arranged marriages and child slavery. You can find out more about the work behind the movie by visiting https://girlrising.org https://girlrising.org Read up on the lives of women today who are changing the world with their voice and their actions. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading Malala Yousafzai’s inspirational biography “I am Malala”.  Years later this is s...

LEARNING FROM SEASONS: MALACHI 3:6

Image
Hey sisters, Hope you're all enjoying the festivities that come with this time of year! Ok ok I have to admit, I'm such a winter baby. I'm all about the cooler weather, winter fashion, the aesthetic and of course CHRISTMAS. One thing I also love about this time of the year is the transition of season from winter to spring; flowers blossoming and the change in weather. It has always been a reminder to me of seasons of life. Life consists of so many seasons, some good and some more difficult. One thing we can be certain of however: Seasons change, the world is changing everyday but God NEVER changes. He is true to His word and His promises. He is the One that remains above all. “I, the Lord, do not change” (Malachi 3:6) He was mighty yesterday, is today and will be tomorrow. I wrote a post earlier in the year titled the best foundation - and it links with what was on my heart to write today. When we stand on the word and promises of God it becomes our ...

STREET GOD #SheReformedReads

Image
A dramatic, compelling memoir full of twists and turns, Street God delves deep into a world from which few ever emerge — and shows how a single spark of light can illuminate even the darkest existence In today's book chat I wanted to share Street God with you, as I am not sure how popular this read is being published a few years ago however was inspiring and one I was glad I picked up. If you want to read about a man's life who got transformed by God's grace and mercy - then this should be one for you to consider. Dimas was a young man who went from being a drug lord to being a preacher going into the dangerous areas to minister, going back to where he used to be a part of. Disclaimer: this book can be a tough read at times so please consider this. The beginning of the book does go into a lot of detail of how Dimas was lured into this lifestyle due to the temptation of money, respect and power. At times I had to put this book down as the violence, drugs, and othe...

HOW GIVING HAS BLESSED MY LIFE

As we are on the subject of gifts and giving, we are approaching that time of the year where people scurry about the shops thinking of Christmas presents. However, my inspiration for this post is from what I experienced on route to work one morning. It was a Friday morning I was in the queue at Starbucks and in the process of ordering my chai latte when the barista informed me that my drink was already paid for by the person in front of me. She also said that I had change left over from that person for a sweet treat! I was pretty shocked and remember saying “really? You sure?” I had a look around but by the time I figured out who it was that provided the treat they were already leaving the shop with their order. I thought of that random act of kindness for the rest of the day; maybe because it caught me off guard? Maybe because I thought “why me”? Or maybe I was taken aback by the fact that for a moment, that person thought of some stranger and considered what a surprise it wou...

DEALING WITH UNFORGIVENESS

Image
I really could write a number of posts regarding forgiveness. Speaking honestly this is something I have struggled with for most of my life. There are many, many books, videos and material that cover this topic and a perfectly good reason why. It affects so many us. If there was a global statistic on how many people struggled with forgiveness I would imagine it to be a pretty high number, like a good 9.5/10. I'm going to be pretty transparent with the hope that what I write can encourage and bless someone who might be going through something similar at the moment.   Here’s the thing: The thing with forgiveness is that even though it can be difficult, it is necessary in order for us to heal and move forward from whatever it was that hurt us. It can hold us back in more ways than one. On a personal note, not being able to forgive growing up resulted in mental and emotional damage that got worse as I got older and didn’t pay attention to the hurt and heavi...

WORSHIP IN CHURCH: WHY I STRUGGLED

Struggle is the word that first comes to mind when I look back on how I worshipped during church services when I first started going to church. Just to give a quick backstory: I got saved short of my 18 th birthday and was still getting familiar with what “singing your worship and praise” was all about. I’ll admit, for a good while I would just read the lyrics in my head, listening to everyone else sing but wouldn’t participate. The reason why singing my worship was a struggle? I can’t pinpoint it to an exact reason other than fear. I was scared of how I would sound – as this was all so new to me. I was worried I wouldn’t sing good enough, that I would be noticed and looked at. Writing this out, and writing it where I am now in my life (where I worship throughout the day!) it’s weird looking back and seeing how fear had such a grip on my life in this area. The enemy would love to take our worship and praise. He would love us to not give God the glory, song and admira...

SHE REFORMED MEETS SHIRINA CARSTENS

Image
Shirina Carstens is a well recognized speaker and humanitarian based in London, UK who has travelled around the world giving talks, coaching and inspiring others with her testimony and life experiences. To kick start our "She Reformed meets" series for this blog, Chloe had the opportunity to talk to Shirina regarding her work and to find out a little bit more about her! Hey Shirina, thanks so much for taking the time out your schedule to talk to us! First things first: How did you get your idea or concept for your movement? So initially my movement came about from a previous business I ran (Beauty from within) which was a theatre company that focus on doing dramas based on the taboo subjects that we as humans hide from such as suicide, self worth etc. During this time I would host the event, from here when we ended people would ask me to speak at their events sharing my story as I did at my own event. From here I kind of fell into speaking literally before I knew...
