KNOWING HIM: PROMISE KEEPER

Image
Dear reader, Being honest with you here, there have been many times in my life where I made promises that I didn't see through or keep, as well as hearing and receiving promises from others then turn out to be disappointed when they fell through. When promises are broken, so often is our faith and trust in the person also. One thing I learned with God however - is that He is not like what we experience on earth, He cannot be compared to how people have treated us or not treated us. God does NOT and has never went back on His word. What comfort and encouragement we can take from that. "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:10-11) We can be encouraged with ...

REVIEW: Doona Infant Car Seat & Stroller

Image
Disclaimer: This item was not sent to me to review nor sponsored.  All opinions are my own. Never thought I would be sharing my thoughts on baby items here but here we are! Today I'm sharing my thoughts on one of my favourite items I have purchased for my baby: the Doona infant car seat and stroller. So first things first - the Doona is pretty impressive. As well as the simple and sleek design it functions as a 0+ rear facing infant car seat, unfolding to become a stroller. Doona 2 in 1 car seat and stroller is just ideal for parents on the go.  Couple of key things: Passes required safety standards of the European ECE R44 car seat regulations Suitable for newborns from 1.8kg up to 13kg (approx. 12 months old) The newborn insert of the Doona (included) has been designed with both the safety and comfort of your baby in mind. The insert is made of soft natural fibres and when your lil one can sit unaided, you simply take the insert out and use the Doona without it. This mea...

Being a NEW MUM: HOW I REALLY FEEL

Image
I am now into week 8 of motherhood and adjusting to life with a little one.  And it has certainly been a journey so far.  The first few weeks with our baby have been a blur. Days and nights were mixed together and me and my husband would often get confused as to what day it was. But we have been on cloud 9 and words can't begin to explain how blessed I feel. There have been tears, sleepless nights, long days as well laughter and joy. But that is what I have learned about motherhood, it is beautiful but intense and overwhelming.  No day is the same and each day I am learning something new.  The transition of just being a wife to now wife and mum has NOT been the easiest adjustment. I suppose this is why this season is called the fourth trimester (yes that is really a thing that I believe doesn't get enough attention for new/expecting mums!).  Some days I amaze myself with how well I'm doing, other days I am overwhelmed, exhausted and feeling frustrated.  Hav...

Dear Girls - A letter from Steven Mcleish

Image
Dear girls, I have something to say to you:  the stuff you're listening to just isn't true  and I hope this gets through to you. You are not ugly, dumb or unattractive you need to take every thought captive because you captivate.  You are not just another stereotype and as you type your status know that you are more than your status and likes. You say you're fat and ugly but that is not what you post to be, a princess and daughter of the KING is what you're supposed to be. You are beautiful, unique, one in a billion, one of a kind, awesome, brilliant, creative, powerful, stunning, smart and a woman after God's own heart. And whether you think you're fat or thin just be comfortable in your own skin. And next time you think of the word beautiful don't forget to count yourself in. You are precious, a trusted diamond, boys who don't wait for you are not wise men because you are one of the most valued commodities there is.   And know you will never look like th...

KNOWING HIM: SECURITY

If there is one thing I can take from the year 2020, is that nothing on this earth is really secure, but temporary. Before I was saved, I used to look to the things of the world to be my foundation, whether it be things or people....which only ever resulted in disappointment. I was putting my hope, anchor and security in all the wrong things. And maybe you are at this point in your life; wondering what could possibly be secure in a world that is in such a disarray.  I love this scripture from Psalm 91: "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the almighty (whose power no enemy can withstand). I will say of The Lord "He is my refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust (with great confidence, and on whom I rely)" Psalm 91:1-2 Key things I had to take from this scripture in order to be truly secure in all seasons of my life: I can dwell in His presence, I can find rest and sanctuary with Him We can find ultimat...

THE WORTH OF WISDOM (PROVERBS)

Image
Hey ladies and happy Sunday! Today I wanted to write on the subject of wisdom. I want to write on what the word says about this, in particular from the book of proverbs alongside some revelation I received during my quiet time over this past week. The book of Proverbs is an amazing book dripping with wisdom that we can use for our daily lives. It tells us in the first chapter where wisdom starts. Knowledge begins with fear (reverence) and respect for God – unless we first understand this, we won’t know what it truly means to live wisely (Proverbs 1:7) therefore it is important that we know God for ourselves and develop a relationship with Him. Knowing God is knowing wisdom , as He is the source of knowledge and understanding comes from Him. The truth is we can go onto a path to self-destruction if we refuse to follow and apply wisdom for our lives. We can try and do things our own way and strength, but we will not be sure of the consequences. G...

GOOD FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Hey sisters, It is my prayer that you are well and keeping safe during these times, I am blessed that me and my family have been well by God's grace. But I'm also tired.  I am tired of the injustice, of the political noise that is bombarding the media here in the US, of videos seeing black men getting killed, of the pandemic. Hearing these things over and over again every day has turned into a exhaustive cycle that I cant seem to get away from.  During my devotional time with God one morning, I brought all these things to Him. I was tired even in my prayers and in speaking to Him but I knew I had to lay it ALL out.  And as I did, I felt a refreshing over me. This is what the word can do for us is we spend time plugged into it on a consistent basis. The word is:  Food for our souls (Jeremiah 15:16) Lamp for our path (Psalm 119:05) Fire that purifies (Jeremiah 23:29) Milk that nourishes (1 Peter 2:2) Over the past few weeks I have been a LOT more intentional:...
